UthBuild history
UthBuild is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by Dave and Tavya Robinson and Chad and Amy Houck in 2008. UthBuild was created to help build houses in Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco), Mexico. The mission of UthBuild is three-fold.
In 2014 Dave and a team of student volunteers undertook their first domestic home build, assisting an elderly widow in Gilbert, AZ with a remodel after her home was badly damaged by a flood. UthBuild plans to expand the home repair work in Arizona. By partnering with local contractors and community organizations, UthBuild will identify Arizona residents needing home repair assistance. UthBuild will then provide trained student and adult volunteers, along with construction supplies, to properly repair and/or upgrade each home to make it more energy efficient and more secure.Since 2008 UthBuild has worked with over 150 student and adult volunteers. In partnership with the high school youth ministry at Sun Valley Community Church-Tempe, Dave has led 21 week-long builds. UthBuild has built 25 homes in Mexico, with plans to continue building 3-4 homes each year. Of the 150 student and adult volunteers over half have been on multiple build trips. Some 30+ students have been on 4 or more build trips.
